JODI'S STORY

" Jodi Murtha is a highly respected musician who has been quietly making a name for herself in the Brisbane music scene over these last years with her fantastic harmonies and bass playing. But those who haven't heard her sing while playing guitar, especially with her own songs, are in for a treat. " (Dr Michael Whiticker, Soundspace Studios)

Brisbane based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jodi Murtha plays her own laid back style of acoustic music with rhythmic guitar and warm vocals. She currently performs solo around South East Queensland and as vocalist and bass player for alt-country band Keeping North.

Growing up amongst the rugged beaches and canefields of Northern Queensland, Jodi's natural ability for music was ignited from a young age at the family Hammond organ. Since then, Jodi has collaborated with numerous bands playing a diverse range of musical genres over thirty years of performing, recording and touring extensively throughout Australia and the USA, and is a regular at local music festivals. In 2016, Jodi released her first solo EP "Contents Unknown".

Jodi's creative repertoire has expanded to include filmmaking, photography and sound recording after completing a Masters in Digital Design at the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University. More recently, Jodi completed a Bachelor of Music with Distinction from the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music, majoring in vocal performance, and is currently studying in the Master of Music program at the University of Queensland.

A versatile and intuitive musician, Jodi is excited about sharing her own music with new audiences and exploring her passion for digital media.
